My teaching philosophy
I believe that each and every flutist— whether they are a beginner or have several years under their belt— is capable of accomplishing great things with the right guidance.
I remember being an eager young flutist with an intrinsic passion for music, but faced one major problem: I lacked the proper guidance I needed to achieve my big dreams until much later in life.
Eventually, my many trials and tribulations led me to each and every teacher who has guided me to where I am now. What more, I have tirelessly researched and sought out every resource available to me to find what truly works.

What will I learn?
My goal as a teacher is for my students to achieve these 3 things:
A developed flute technique that is built through strategic and organized practice of scales, etudes, and other studies by the great flutists that have defined the way we play
A strong musical ear and deeper musical understanding by exploring music history & music theory
Confidence in ones playing through performance opportunities, and confidence in ones practice by using planning and organization to achieve every goal.
What does a typical lesson look like?
Lessons begin with sound exercises and finger technique
together, we will work on topics that are appropriate for your level and develop skills thoroughly through this technical work.
Études
intermediate and advanced students will work on etudes to further expand their technique through more challenging approaches
Repertoire!
Whether you are preparing for all-state band auditions, youth orchestra, your next scale test, or learning a song “for funsies”, we will spend time each lesson working through each item on your to-do list.

we will talk about the important music theory associated with each piece
we will identify the challenges and develop a practice plan to squash even the trickiest of passages!
